Fiona joined the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing in May 2023 as Nursing Programmes Manager, designing and delivering bespoke professional development and innovation programmes. She supports the Queen’s Nurse network and delivers career development sessions through the Rising Stars programme.

She began her career as a Nursing Home care assistant before qualifying as a registered nurse in 1990. After hospital roles in Orthopaedics and SCBU, she moved into School Nursing, completing SCPHN – SN and becoming a 0–19 Locality Manager. Fiona was awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse in 2017.

Fiona gained commissioning experience at North Yorkshire CCG, supporting children and young people with SEND and their families. Her portfolio included services such as Special School Nursing, Palliative and End-of Life Care, and Enuresis.

She later worked at West Yorkshire ICB as Young Carers Project Manager and Programme Manager for Unpaid Carers. Fiona is passionate about co-production and has led several initiatives including a Young Carers Support App and a series of short films. She continues to champion unpaid carers with a special interest in young carers through her role as a Carers Champion at the QICN and as a Trustee of a Carers Charity.

Fiona holds an MBA in Leadership with Coaching and Mentoring and is a member of the Association for Coaching and the School and Public Health Nurses Association. Outside work, she enjoys family time, gardening, staying active, and taking part in Parkruns and charity events.
