The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) has published a new impact report for 2024.

‘How we helped’ shows how the charity provided support to community nurses and the individuals, families and communities they served in 2024.

In 2024, the QNI:

  • Welcomed 550 new Queen’s Nurses, growing our network to nearly 3,000 community nurses across the UK.
  • Launched the General Practice Nurse Network, providing vital support to nurses in primary care.
  • Strengthened advocacy and policy influence, with reports like District Nursing Today shaping national workforce discussions.
  • Published key policy reports, shaping national conversations on workforce planning and patient care.
  • Expanded our Leadership and Community Nursing Innovation Programmes, empowering nurses with the skills and confidence to shape the future of healthcare
  • Supported a growing number of nurses with financial assistance.

Community nursing is the backbone of healthcare, enabling people to receive expert care where they need it most—at home and in the community.

Our Impact Report captures some highlights of our efforts to provide meaningful support and I would like thank all community nurses for their dedication and commitment to the communities they serve.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank our funders, The National Garden Scheme, the Department of Health and Social Care; the National Institute for Health and Care Research and Hallam Medical for supporting many of our networks – we couldn’t do what we do without them.

Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief Executive of the QNI

The QNI has also produced a version of the document with a Welsh foreword, which you can also download below:
