The QICN publishes Impact Report for 2025
13 February 2026
The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN) has published a new impact report for 2025.
‘How we Helped’ shows how the charity provided support to community nurses and the individuals, families and communities they served in 2025.
The past year has been transformative for the QICN, marked by a significant rebrand that reflects both the charity’s heritage and its ambition to champion the vital role community nurses play in supporting people in their own homes.
Since joining as Chief Executive, I have been inspired by the dedication, skill, and compassion of community nurses across the UK. Community nursing is the backbone of healthcare, enabling people to receive expert care where they need it most - at home and in the community. This report captures the story of our impact, shaped by nurses' insight and courage. I want to thank all community nurses for their unwavering commitment to the communities they serve.
Steph Lawrence MBE, Chief Executive of the QICNKey 2025 Highlights Include:
- Growing the Queen’s Nurse Network: The QICN welcomed 510 new Queen’s Nurses in 2025. This prestigious network now includes over 3,300 community nurses across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man, all committed to excellence in practice and lifelong learning.
- Expansion of Nursing Faculties: The charity launched several new professional ‘homes’ for specialist nursing areas, including the Faculty of Adult Social Care Nursing , the Faculty of General Practice Nursing, the Faculty for Mental Health Nursing and the Faculty for Learning Disability Nursing.
- Strengthening Policy and Research: The QICN’s International Community Nurse Observatory (ICNO) published “The Trap Door,” a critical report highlighting the overlooked trend of experienced nurses moving into lower-paid roles.
- Advancing Leadership and Innovation: The QICN continued to empower the workforce through its Leadership Programmes and the Community Nursing Innovation Programme (CNIP). This included showcasing five innovative community projects through the NGS Elsie Wagg Scholarships.
- Financial Assistance: The QICN continued to provide a vital safety net, offering financial assistance to nurses facing hardship, including those affected by long-term illness or domestic changes.
